GBS (Group B Streptoccocus) testing

GBS (Group B Streptoccocus) testing is a culture of vaginal fluid to detect the possible presence of this bacterium. Although it is harmless to the mother, the effects of contamination on the infant may be catastrophic up to sepsis and death. The intervention during the labor is minimal and the specific antibiotic treatment is warranted.

We offer this test at 35 weeks gestational age and further testing for sensitivity in Penicillin allergic patients. No detail is overlooked for the most effective protection of your baby.
